Q:In the intermediate women's division there was a miscounted in the judging they counted carlsbad as getting a 1 in showmanship when they really got a 19. They ended up getting first place by 4 points. They found out an hour after awards.

Thank you for clarifying. I completely forgot about it until right now. It shall be updated shortly. -Victor

Q:There has been a huge mistake that has not been recognized by anyone, and I would love for you to help me spread the word. In the Intermediate Woman's division, Carlsbad Encore won first place and showmanship. It might not seem like a big deal because they are just an "Intermediate group" but the worked so hard and deserve to be recognized. There was a problem with scoring, in which Carlsbad received a ONE in a category instead of a NINETEEN. (Continued in next message)

The VMA of Chula Vista High School thanks you for enjoying this last competition here at our home. This is why SoCal is my favorite two days of the year. The whole feel of those two days, with all the stress and the excitement, I couldn’t have enjoyed myself anymore. Well, except if it were at Golden Hall.

A quick shoutout to Los Alamitos, since I hosted them over those two long days. It was a great pleasure meeting everyone and seeing practically everything behind the scenes. It was fun and exciting, and

I hope you guys enjoyed our 2-year old performing arts facility. It was a little tough to manage, we know, but thank you for your guy’s cooperation and understanding. We will be back in Golden Hall next year, and Chula Vista’s Main Attraction will be competing next year as well in the Double A Division.

Well, I don’t know what to say. It was a great seasonal run, all the way through. Seniors, enjoy these last few weeks with your choir. With final concerts last performances coming soon (if they haven’t happened yet), well, it will be tough letting go of it. But, hey, there’s a whole world out there still too explore. And the show choir world will always be here as well, so please feel free to come back.

The next time this blog will be in full function again is in January of next year, when it will turn 2-years old.

But, it’s not that time yet, so we should see you soon… hopefully

Lots of love and with all of my heart that is full of love

-Victor

PS - If anyone knows the names of the people who got best soloists/performers, can you please message us or reply us with their names or something. We’d like to recognize them for their efforts.

PSSS - You all look amazing tonight

PSSSS - Don’t ask how I know that ;)

Q:I'm from Mt Eden and I just wanted to clear things up to people saying we're competing unfairly. Usually when we compete we start in intermediate each year and then move up to Double A if we feel ready. This year they decided not to let us because we have about 50 members, and the limit is 40. Anyone who has seen a AAA group can see that we don't have the resources to compete with them, so the only way we can compete is Intermediate. That's the option they give us, we don't like it either.

Q:Do you know if they're going to have a rule against a choir competing in a lower division when they have competed in a higher level before? ( I heard that Mt. Eden has about 60 members and have competed in double A and they competed in intermediate this year. Wouldn't that be a little unfair for the other choirs who are actually intermediate?)

Anonymous

I think this is more of a concern about Mt. Eden over anything else.

Well, Mt. Eden cannot compete in Double A already because of the fact they have 50 members in it (Double A groups are composed of <40 members) And they don’t have the funds to compete against Triple A (most of it goes to traveling to competitions, as they are near San Francisco, unlike most of us who are in the Southern California).

So, I do not think that there will be a rule about that coming soon, if ever. It puts a strain on groups who are trying to gather the popularity and funds to jump up divisions. Mt. Eden has to jump two divisions in order for that to happen.

It may look unfair, but it is very tough for Mt. Eden as well, who has been battling these rule and restrictions for as long as I know.
